EMERGENCY RESPONSE SUPPORT

Emergency response is a huge part of our our society that keeps us safe yet is somehow overlooked by the police as being a dangerous and hazardous career path. Outside of the police force, fire fighters, ambulatory teams, HAZMAT response and search and rescue teams are very important and require just as much focus and support as any other service supporting the safety of our society.

I would push for better grants to be pushed to Fire Departments to provide a wider and quicker response. The cost of equipment is staggering and many departments do not have enough equipment or new enough equipment to support the broad areas they cover. Firefighters are always in need of additional training as the environment fire fighters work in is unpredictable and dangerous.

Besides police and fire fighters, ambulatory teams, HAZMAT response teams and Search and Rescue teams are widely forgotten and it is assumed that funding and training is prioritized by police, fire and hospital funding. While funding does come from those sources, these are some of the last prioritized funding areas. I would push for additional funding directed specifically to the training and equipping of these services placing individual focus on these services so that when they are needed, they are trained, equipped and ready to respond!
