WHO IS MIKE CARPINELLI
SERVICE AND INTEGRITY IN SUPPORT OF THE CONSTITUTION
Currently serving in his third term as Sheriff for Lewis County, Mike Carpinelli is best known as President Trump’s favorite sheriff in New York State. Carpinelli, age 56, is an accomplished and dedicated man of law enforcement. But he serves the voters in his community in the spirit of the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor:
“On my honor, I will never betray my integrity, my character, or the people’s trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always maintain the highest ethical standards and uphold the values of my community and the agency I serve.”
A LIFETIME OF SERVICE
This was an oath to be exemplified, and Sheriff Carpinelli knew it was a personal decision of choice to protect and serve the people. In the same way after he graduated from Kingston High School in 1982, he chose to enlist in the United States Army Reserve. Raising his right hand before God, family, and military personnel he stated, “I Mike Carpinelli, solemnly swore to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, bearing true faith as well as allegiance to the same, obeying the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
While still serving his country in an eight year tenure from 1983 – 1991, the sheriff began a productive and at times challenging career in law enforcement in 1986 in his hometown of Kingston, NY. With an unusual acceptance of responsibility and commitment of duty to the people of New York State, in 1992 he relocated to Rochester, New York where he continued his career at the Rochester City Police Department.
Over his 14 year tenure with the RPD Sheriff Carpinelli humbled and honored to accept the Chiefs Letter of Recognition Award in 1997, 1999 and again in 2000. Prior to retiring in 2006, he was honored with the Excellence in Police Service Award. Said Sheriff Carpinelli, “Although I had received professional recognition from my peers at the RPD, I have to say that my greatest professional achievement wasn’t within my department. Rather, it was my rapport with community members.”
Upon retiring, Sheriff Carpinelli, wife Vickie, and his infant daughter Nicolette subsequently moved to the peacefulness of the Tug Hill Region where they currently reside. However, his retirement was to be short lived. Within a matter of months he was once again serving the people of New York as a sheriff’s deputy at the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. When the incumbent sheriff retired, the people of Lewis County put their trust in him and elected him as their sheriff in 2012. He has earned their vote twice more.
A NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
As a representative of the thin blue line, but moreover, as a resident of the Empire State, Mike Carpinelli has heard the concerns of fellow New Yorkers. Our voices have been ignored by the likes of past and present governors who possess names of familiarity and deep pockets. In being afforded the freedoms of this great nation comes the responsibility of increasing our knowledge and upholding our birthright as written in our founding documents of freedom; hence, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Sheriff Mike Carpinelli began to branch out into the political area after the passing of the New York State Safe Act in February of 2013. In June of that year, the sheriff spoke out against the bill at a “Repeal the Safe Act” rally held on the West Lawn of the New York State Capital. The people of New York responded overwhelmingly in favor of their constitutional liberties that Sheriff Carpinelli reminded the crowd. That is why in June of 2016 he was honored with the New York State Constitutional Sheriff’s Award. Nationally recognized, Sheriff Carpinelli reminds citizens statewide that his award belongs to all patriots and not just one man.
As Governor Andrew Cuomo misrepresented our state’s constitution, by infringing on the people’s freedoms, Sheriff Carpinelli sent a clear and concise message that echoed the concerns of the common person be they an outdoorsman, a parent, or blue collared worker. Prior to his gubernatorial announcement in June of 2020, he spoke at town hall meetings and rallies throughout our state. Thereafter, he spoke on local and national news outlets nationwide reminding patriots everywhere of our nation’s founding and the principles of liberty therein. He continues speaking truth to power today.
Sheriff Mike Carpinelli has a message for the people of New York State that really is quite simple: “We are not a people of two states divided by our differences, but rather a people of one state anchored in faith, family and freedom.”
